we had to chop down an old cherry tree and decided to cut up the trunk into logs and make a ‘wildlife’ area .

we also added a pot , turned on it’s side , and filled with water.a few days later i noticed something under the log pile and took this close up…….

hopefully this will keep the slug and snail population down , any ideas what this is, a toad or frog?
we also moved the bird feeders away from the nest boxes on the wall and this year we had a pair of blue tits raise a family which fledged a couple of bays ago.the bird feeders have attracted the goldfinches back but as yet unable to get a photo of them feeding.

Definitely a toad. Yuk! Soooooooo ugly, lol.

He is a toad for sure, toads tend to have dry looking skin whereas frogs are wet looking, you are very lucky to have such a precious creature in your garden.

It's Mr Toad!
Or maybe Jabba the Hut?
Very nice blog.

Hope he's as hungry as his size would suggest! Send him to me when he's cleared your garden of slugs - I have 4" long slugs that would keep this lad happy!

it does look like jabba the hut, but i'm very pleased to know it's a common toad.no idea where he came from but hopefully he/she ? will stay , hence the water feature.
