Hi Elaine, I live just about straight across the country from Cumbria. I used to work for a company whose head office was in Barrow and went there once. We've been a few times to Port Carlisle for holidays and love the area although it seems to be wet alot of the time, lol. suppose that helps with the lovely greenery though. It's a nice place and we're hoping to spend a bit more time travelling around there this year.

Hi Elaine i think i live nearest to where you come from, i live in Blackpool, i go to the lakes quite alot, i also have brother-in -law who lives 5mins from Barrow in Dalton-in-furness.Have to admit i think the lakes is the most beautiful place to visit let alone live there, anyway welcome to GOY.

I am originally from Ulverston, only 8 miles from Barrow. I try to 'go home' at least once a year. I still have an aunt and several cousins in Barrow and another aunt in Kendal.
My grandparents were from very large families, all of them living in Barrow.
