For those of you who read last year, bought some plants seeded the backgarden, part of it has just had its first cut coming along beautifully. In the early part of the year I lost my greenhouse to the high winds hence trays and plants in the utility room BUT have now purchased a 2nd hand poly tunnel from a lovely lady In Wisbech, yesterday ordered a new cover and hot spot tape (well got to doit properly if its going to last) and at 32ft x 17 cant wait to get going.Because the garden is over an acre it will need lots of plants so hopefully will use bedding this year while I take cuttings etc of shrubs and such like and get them going in the tunnel. Used to have raised beds at previous property but that wont work here too many pesky rabbits and even had a deer visit and eat halfway through the trunk of a newly planted purple willow tree! Now guarded so hopefully it will survive intend growing salad crops etc in the tunnel with netted doors for when plastic doors are open. Never venttured down this road any advice welcome tried to put pics but failed!

Exciting times - enjoy your polytunnel - and put a chair in it so you can sit there in the rain and admire your handiwork...

the best advice I was given for getting lots of plants was to look in gc and chose big plants with clearly obvious cutting materials. avoid the ones with flower buds and then remove 1/3 of cutting materials then in a month or so when the plant has recovered do the same again. I still tend to do this if I'm buying from a garden centre. Will it divide easily/ has it lots of shoots etc. Drives hubby mad. But hey 1 plant at £6 and then over a season 10 + cuttings that next year will be planted out and flower.
Also sow perennials now and then next yr they will be big enough to go out.
garden sounds like you are going to be very busy in the months to come.
