HAPPY COINCIDENCE

Firstly, a big thank you to all the GOY members who have written about lily beetles. Before reading about them on here I didn’t even know they existed. However, whilst on my morning garden check today I saw two small holes on my tree lily which is the first lily I have ever bought, and upon further inspection found a naughty red beetle hiding in the top of the plant. I picked it off and squashed it and then showed my husband what it was like to alert him in case he ever saw any others on my lily (if he ever looks that is).
Secondly today, again whilst checking the garden, I found a poor little baby blue tit huddling at the bottom of one of my trees. It must have fallen out of it’s nest. Not knowing which nest, my OH put it into the nest box in the next tree which is not too far from where it was. I suspect it probably fell from a nest in my neighbours large conifer which is also not very far from where I found it but it is so dense I couldn’t see a nest nearby. At least (I hope) we have saved it from the cold and damp – fingers crossed !
