Hell! Wheres my fence gone?

I did have a wall. I don’t anymore. Went out, had a wall, came back – didn’t. Next door decided that they didn’t want a wall, they wanted a fence – ‘fine’ my other half says, thinking that they’d take the wall down one day, put up a fence the next. Its been two weeks. I have family over at the weekend and I really wanted to do a bit of ‘instant’ gardening so that when they get here it would at least give an idea of what I have in mind for the place. Ha! No Way Jose! Rien de wall – pas de fence! Poop! I’ll try to enclose pics but am new to this, so forgive if it doesn’t work. I have retired to bed in a fit of pique!
This is where the wall used to be. Just to the right of the badly camouflaged water butt and the edge of the decking. AND THAT BAG OF CEMENT IS ON MY LAND!!!!!
Thats the other side – thats the shed with the fancy door! You can see that I shall have to find something to hide the pipes that take water to the washing machine. White plastic – not a good look in a garden!
Everything but the kitchen sink? More like, nothing BUT a kitchen sink!
The ailing bamboo. The only thing that stands between the builders next door, and the loo! Nice strawberries in the wall pots though!
And…………herby pots. The sum total of my garden so far. GIVE ME MY FENCE BACK!

I am glad you can almost see the other side.........nearly fell out with neighbour last week over a large tree/shrub she removed from her garden which she had every right to do, but took away a lot of our privacy, thankfully we are back on speaking terms again, so good luck with your wall problem.

such a shame Tosh. But, you catch more flies with sugar....as the saying goes. Try and keep your cool and good luck. :o)

Sorry you guys - you're very kind, but I wasn't really angry, just a bit disappointed. I don't know the chap - he hasn't moved in yet, and Im unlikely to start, what I hope to be a mutual respecting relationship, with a slanging match. He is merely young, and doesn't yet appreciate how these things work. I'll have a gentle word and I'm sure it'll be sorted out soon. Thanks for your friendly support though - but don't worry, I was merely 'venting'. Anyway, you see my problem now about the size and lack of sun in my garden. When the fence does go up, I'd like to put a climbing rose over it, though am still wondering whether a rambler. Something very fragrant - have been reading about 'Gertrude Jekyl' and 'St Swithins' - I tend towards the pink. However, I do love a honeysuckle, and if the fence is ugly - a passion flower would cover it fast - but not look so great in winter - you see the dilemma?

If that was me, id be putting my own fence up instead of waiting, hope all works out well.

I love a combination of climbing rose and fragrant honeysuckle. They are so pretty together. Pink is my favourite rose colour. Gertrude J. is a wonderfully fragrant rose but she does need the full 6 to 8 hours of sun per day to produce really well. I'm speaking from my own experience with her. What about a climbing New Dawn?

Thanks for that Gilli, thats really worth knowing - . My sister has had probs with Gertrude J too, but it is in full south facing sun - just got very leggy! I'll certainly check out New Dawn - my other half favours a darker rose - any suggestions?

Gently, gently Tosh. It sounds as if this could escalate into a major neighbourly dispute. I fully sympathise with you and would be totaly pissed of if my neighbours treated me this way. However, in my (past) working life I have seen too many feuds start in this way and become very ugly.
Talk to your neighbour and talk to him again. You have nothing to lose,
As I said before, I fully sympathise with you.
