RHS Level 2

Well back in June I received my correspondence course, RHS Level 2. It’s now September and I have since completed my first two lessons.
First lesson “The Plant-Classification, Structure & Function”.
My marked course work came back with a mark of 74/80.
Second lesson “The Plant-Growth, Development & Physiology”.
The marked work for this lesson was 73/80.
As you can see the, the grades are not bad. I must admit at times I have felt quite out of depth but it does seem to be getting slightly easier. When I say easier it is becomming clearer.
I have learn’t quite a bit so far. Things that you new happened, I now understand why. Seed germination for example. We all now good quality seeds sown properly will yield bigger and better plants but when you go into detail as to why, it is really interesting. (Hopefully less failure here now)
I’m not saying I am an expert, but photosynthesis, transpiration, photoperiod and auxins, are all known to us but have any of us really looked them up, or read about them properly.
I am getting really hooked. Which is a good thing as it could of all gone horrible wrong.
Next lesson is “Plant Propagation” . Now it’s getting really interesting. I find myself reading a lot more relevant books instead of just looking up the usual info that you are interested at the time.
I would urge anyone to do the course. You dont have to sit the exam at the end of it if you dont want to, but I’m sure like me you will probably aim for that.
Back to the books.

Good luck with it. I studied for RHS Level 2 a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the whole experience. I went to a class (which was fun, very sociable bunch of gardeners) but am thinking of doing Level 3 via correspondence course as no-one is putting on Level 3 in my area. Who supplies the correspondence course?

I had thought of doing course but at the time put off.
Also our local nursery is putting on a winter night class so trying to get in to that.

It sounds an interesting course.
Plant classification and structure is what I enjoyed most when I did A-level Botany many yrs ago in the 60s.
Congratulatrions on your grades and I'm glad you're enjoying it.
All the best, Hywel.
