Spring is here and my slug munching friends.

It’s true it felt like Spring was well and truly here today. I have spent all day in the garden. Picking up the last of the leaves off of the flower beds and doing a spot of weeding.

Whilst I was busy doing this I kept coming across things growing and I am desperately trying to remember what I have planted and where. Photos are good for this as well as a diary or a journal. I have the photos so a quick look through to see what was there last year.

I shall have to wait and see.

Anyway the frogs are back. Hooray my little slug munching friends. How do I know they are back well they have been busy.

I have not seen them since last year but they are obviously around. If you do see frogs in Hampshire you can log on to www.hwt.org.uk and let them know as they are doing a survey of the species.

The Willow fedge I planted last year looks as if it is growing. There is a bit of die back but on the whole it is growing so I am happy and I shall post pics of my fedge later in the year.

There is also plenty of colour in the form of Primulas / Poly’s.

I just checked on Feb. 08 file on my laptop - and there were a lot more plants in bloom then. I reckon we are about 2-3 weeks behind!

Yes, I've been outside every possible moment!

Oh frogspawn already! I'm hoping for some in my new pond.....none there today, but will keep regular watch now I've seen this! Are there fish in your pond T&T? I have 2 fish and not sure whether to take them out or the frogspawn if/when it appears...

Sid there are no fish. It is a wildlife pond. (I would like fish but it means installing an electric cable etc etc..)

Basically it is a hole lined with an old piece of carpet, a liner lots of water a few pond plants and some dug up rubble and brick.

This is our second spring with it and our second year with frog spawn, there were loads of tadpoles but I couldnt tell you how many survived.

It was like spring here a few days ago but now it feels as if winter has returned. - it's been cold again. Anyway things seem to be perking up in the garden in spite of it. You have lots of colour there and I'm glad your frogs have come back.

Treesandthings! Wow! What super pictures, thanks for sharing! I'm jealous of your frogs and frogspawn, I want some!! teehee! I've just bought a new pond and regret it. I wish now I'd made a pond with a liner. Still, too late now I suppose. Unless I can persuade my dh that the one we bought is just for the birds? Hmmmm.......

Eeeek Sid! Your fish will eat the frogspawn if you do get any frogs!

I spotted a frog in my pond today.....still no spawn....

Craftnutter - Something might have to go in a bucket for a while - either the fish or the spawn if some appears!!

Ah Sid! Sounds like a plan, heehee!! Btw, don't you need to see 2! frogs to know you'll get some spawn? Frogs are supposed to take up to a week to mate!!!! Ie the smaller male frog holds the larger female in a death grip! (so I read!!!)
