Kitchen garden raised beds project part 3

Another weekend is in sight and word is that it will be dry on Saturday.
Hooray!!!

Last weekend I removed all the exsisting plants (see previous blog’s) and started to build some raised beds out of old pallets.

This week in the evenings I have managed to make two of the beds a bit deeper than the other three (I need some more wood) and today I have been busy adding the contents of my compost heap to two of the beds. This is easy to see as they are the beds that are a lovely dark brown colour.

As you can see I have transplanted some lettuce into one of the beds, some beans into another and some young strawberry plants in another.

Also sown some seed hoping for a late crop of more lettuce, radish, beetroot and some carrots.

Tomorrow I am off to buy some chard, spinach, turnips. peas, broccoli and some spring cabbage.
These should all be ok to sow now, lets hope the nursery has some left.
