while collecting aquilegia seeds this morning, I realised just how many poppys we had this year, they are lovely but if I let them all self seed they will take over next year.so I collected the seed and have about 4 or 5 teaspoons full ,I will use some myself but if any body would like some let me know and i will put them in the post, what I have left I will scatter under the hedge down the lane, the birds will eat them or they will grow then everybody can enjoy them. They look like a californian poppy and they are yellow and some are orange hugs all round vabascum

Ditto! I've had no luck with poppies at all!
nice if you spread them down the lane though. I love to see poppies and lupins etc on a boring motorway drive!

Ah Ah, we have now discovered the secret poppy sower, so your to blame for all the poppies we have this year. I`ve commented to my OH that we seem to have more this year in fields and hedgerows than ever before and they make for such a wonderful sight. There have also been a lot more self-seeding ones arrived in our garden. So happy sowing Vabascum and welcome to goy.

Welcome to GoY, Verbascum. As someone who can't get poppy seeds to grow in my garden, it's probably best if I don't take up your offer. I must have scattered thousands around the garden but no luck. I like your idea of spreading them along the lane - a treat in store for everyone who passes.
Must admit I like your description of yourself in your profile - you could be describing me :)
Hope you enjoy GoY as much as I have.
