hard pruning

last autumn 2017 I hard pruned 3 plants the Eleagnus was totally out of control and reaching up to the heavens, I started out to make it ‘manageable’ but over a period of a few days it finished up as just a few stumps ….the euonymus Alatus was getting too big so did the same thing there! then earlier that year I noticed my ‘Nelly Moser’ Clematis looked a bit odd after it had flowered then realised that the old conifer stump which it had clambered over for years had rotted away! it was too tangled to do anything with so that had to be cut back to the ground. Come the Spring of 2018 I noticed some new growth on the two shrubs (so I hadn’t killed them) and the Clematis had romped away as the pictures show, I did lose the Flowers this year apart from one or two, but next year she will be back to her wonderful self again a mass of blooms!! so I’m posting before and after pictures
