heat wave

This year my 19 year old Campsis Radicans ‘Flava’ vine has flowered as never before! it always had a few blooms but nothing special was it the early ‘everlasting’ rain we had earlier this year and now a heat wave that has encouraged the flowers this year I wonder.

It's certainly vigorous. Some plants have come into their own with this weather: clematis, roses, lilies, to name a few.

My small Beech hedge is certainly more vigorous. I used to trim it in September, now it needs a going over in July.
Glad I bought a small pair of hand-held secateurs, not such hard work as shears.

Lucky you. I've had a Campsis (Flamenco I think) for about twenty years and never had even a sniff of a flower. Every year I say I'm going to dig it up and throw it, which I did last year, but lots of shoots came back so it wasn't ready to give up.
