Huzzahs for Cramden……………………

Just thought I’d post a quick “Well done” for Cramden nurseries.
I earlier asked within the “questions” section for any recommendations as to specialist Pelargonium/Geranium nurseries, this because although I’d managed to make up the losses experienced by leaving my plug foraging too late, I’d not been able to make up my annual search for “New Flavours” for my small and modest collection of Geraniums/Pelargoniums.
If you’ve read my previous ramblings you’ll remember the early warm weather caused my local Nursery to be “Grazed to the ground” of any and all green matter!!

Anyhoo………….. Whilst checking out the reply to my question I also Googled and fell over “Cramden Nursery” a small family affair only about an hour or so from me [Just North of Northampton on the A508].
So I made up a small flask and toddled off – What a cracking little place, the quality of the home grown produce was staggering, all the plants were within 2 litre pots and filled them handsomely – they were all picture perfect and very robust. A great selection of Named varieties, and reasonable too, considering the size and condition.
A good selection of plugs for those that wanted to make their pennies go a bit further, or simply likes to bring them on themselves?
The staff were knowledgeable and very friendly and most attentive.
I was served by “Nick”, a partner in the business, who was also incredibly giving of his time and experience, a great example of how a small business should present itself to its public.
All in all a smashing and worthwhile trip out – spent way too much of course [Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be though – makes you feel as though you’ve indulged yourself a bit].
Also took the long way home through the lanes and fell over some very pretty villages, lovely countryside and even “cheated” on Cramden a bit by calling into “Crick” garden centre for a look-see and topped up with a few trays of bedding.

So – in hindsight, an even more thoroughly great day out.

………………… KBO.

I love days out like that wyeth, I found a great family run nursery a couple of years ago, Sadly it burned down this year!!! Im so glad you found what you were looking for, I was panicking 2 weeks ago, i couldn't source any Colius, I found some beauties online and only last week called into local allotments selling bedding and Wallah, they had Colius for 50p each. What a lovely way to spend your day. Family run businesses get my vote any day when compared to the large commercial nurseries.
