Kentucky Spring.

This past week I was in Lexington, Kentucky for a conference. Every time I go to Kentucky I fall in love yet again with the cooler weather in April, the Spring-ness of it all, the tulips blooming and the horses grazing calmly…Late April in Houston is really already early summer..but in Lexington it is still spring, with all the newness and fresh beauty that tells you winter is really over… Here’s a brief tour…
Trees in bloom…love the frothiness of these pink blossoms:
These gorgeous striped pink tulips greet visitors on one corner:
You gotta love a place where they have blue paw prints on the sidewalks because the University of Kentucky’s mascot is the wildcat!
Closer to campus you have these red and yellow striped tulips:
And before entering the Old Student Center you saw this beautiful azalea…this is how they bloom in Virginia! Hardly a speck of green showing…
I loved the blooming tree and the blazing tulips in orange and red…
And the fiery red of these leaves:
Out in the country you even see sheep:
A blue barn and a plowed field:
Some horses among the hills:
And Tara the border collie following orders to stay while herding the sheep:
The sheep obey…
What a beautiful place to be for four days!

It does look like a beautiful spot - love the colour of those tulips. Lucky you spending time there and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Hywel, it is indeed.
Absolutely, Bernieh. Lucky for me the conference is annual but I don't always go.
Lexington is known for its horseracing and horse shows and believe me, some of those barns where the horses are kept look like giant homes! I thought they were houses the first time I went and oh how amused everyone was, until they explained that no, that's were the horses were kept, in luxury and comfort, the barns are heated in winter and aircontioned in summer! Amazing.
