Sorry not to have updated my blog been very busy.
I always put apples on the lawn for the thrushes and blackbirds,last week we noticed a very old blackbird feeding,it was not timid at all, I said to Joan my wife ,that blackbird doesn’t look very healthy. Yesterday when doing my garden I found the old blackbird dead. I buried it in borders but it had me wondering . We are lucky to have such a large and diverse population of birds but we seldom find dead birds. Hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather.

The blackbirds get to be quite tame and I enjoy their company in the garden, it doesn't take them long to join me especially if I've been turning the borders, last year was a bad one for my apples so I didn't have a stock of them for through the winter (mind you I did pinch a few out of the fruit bowl for them) hoping this year to collect and save some, as I must admit the cost of the birdfood like everything else has risen in leaps and bounds.
Its a grand day Pop, sunshine and fluffy white clouds but not too hot so a good one for gardening........

it always sad to find a dead bird , but at least it got to an old age ,we have lots of birds in our garden, love watching them, especially when the bring their young to the feeders, the blackbirds are very cheeky, especially one male, when gardening I almost stand on him as hes so close behind me seeing if I have unearthed any worms for him.
