Gardeners' World - they're doing it again

Gardeners’ World is currently being disrupted in the TV schedules for the likes of Wimbledon and the Challenge Cup Rugby League.
Here are all the upcoming broadcast times and dates for when the BBC horticultural programme is on TV:
Friday June 17 – 8.35pm, BBC Two
Friday June 24 – No episode airing
Friday July 1 – 9.30pm, BBC Two
Friday July 8 – 10pm, BBC Two
Recently, Gardeners’ World presenter Monty Don spoke out against the BBC’s decision to constantly move the show around in the schedules.
The flagship gardening show has been cancelled on numerous occasions from its Friday evening slot for special events and the petition has called for the BBC to “come up with a sensible solution to this madness”.
Host Monty Don has been vocal of his disappointment at the BBC’s scheduling decisions on Twitter, describing their actions as “galling”.
An online petition called ‘Stop bumping Gardeners’ World’ has so far gained over 6,800 signatures from frustrated fans.
However, some positive news for viewers is that the show will be extended from its current running time of 30 minutes to an hour from September 2016.
A decision on whether these longer editions will become a permanent fixture, Don said that it was “As yet undecided, but very probable”.
Meanwhile, when BT TV asked the BBC to comment on Don’s comments, they confirmed the news stating: “We are looking at introducing some longer episodes of Gardeners’ World later this year. We’ll announce more details in due course.”

Whats wrong with checking for possible T/V programmes on BBC.Co.Uk/programmes each morning ?
Half an hour of GW is quite enough for me.
I was fascinated last night watching a team of very good people moving a herd of Giraffes across the River Nile
to better, and hopefully safer, pastures.
Just wish it was better for the Elephant herds, and other endangered species.

And about time too!! Well done Monty Don....so infuriating to have the one and only (as a rule) gardening program removed because of sport!! even my OH who is a keen sports fan, agreed it was not on!!
And as for half an hour!! ridiculous of course we need an hour, everything was always so rushed, roll on September I say..

There wont be so much to do in September - planting spring bulbs etc - here we go again.
Thanks Andrew anyway.

Yes its maddening we are not all sports fans and quite honestly the gardening makeover programmes are not what I consider proper gardening they are all shortcuts, well done Monty for speaking out and well done all who signed the petition, won't hold my breath though, they'll still cut GW out when they choose, probably making the programme an hour each time but shorten how many weeks its actually on, that way we gain nothing...

Linc's.......I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they cut the programs.... considering gardening is supposed to be the nation's favourite pastime!! that's a joke!
obviously the BBC don't make enough money out of programs like GW... whereas they do the sports shows!!
And I agree the makeover shows are not about real gardening......I am pleased that Monty had the courage to speak out it was about time.....

Yes Dotty its bound to be about money it always is, the makeovers look nice when they finish but I always wonder how long they actually last, its always done in a rush and so many shortcuts....

Love your garden with Alan T...is the one!! they must spend thousands, and I just wonder how on earth do they look after the garden afterwards!!

I agree it is rather irritating but, alas, predictable I think!
