~ yesterday we went to the Malvern Autumn show which was fantastic~ but the highlight for me were the Clydesdale horse team who were absolutely magnificent!
It takes a long time and a team of helpers to get them ready and they were very patient whilst they were being hitched up~
if you can get a chance to see these beautiful animals today then get along there now!

We looked out for you Arlene :)

Yes we kept an eye out too!
~we went with my daughter and we spent so much time in the food/wine/crafts areas that we hardly had time to take in the plants!~could have spent a second day there! We arrived at 10.45 and left at 4.45 but saw only a fraction didn't even get round to the dogs !
We went to look for a small second greenhouse and have ordered one!Yay

However I did get a tray of 15 cyclamen for £10 some lovely ginger wine and some fantastic cheeses some gentians and a sedum all of which are great!
Did you and Barbara have a good time?

We did and we met up with Grindle too.

Like you, we didn't get to see a lot of it and a second day would have been great !
We spent most of the time at the plants areas and didn't get to see much else.
Arrived at 10.00 and left about 4.00.

Exhausting wasn't the word, i'm still recovering today !!!

Look forward to the Spring one now :)))

~the spring one is great! this year we stayed the night before in Tewkesbury and the night after so had a more relaxed time getting to the show much earlier~ it is a completely different show with more emphasis on plants with a huge pavilion for the growers~all the accommodation gets booked quite early so will be looking for that soon~we tend to go early in the week, the first day if possible as it is less busy!
You must have had quite a long drive~no wonder you are exhausted!
You will have to get out into the food wine gadgets etc!
Did see trugs with a set of wheels but only the porter type not like Barbara's~

~Caroline ~glad you like the photos~we would have taken more of them in action but wanted to watch them rather than take photos! The lady doing the commentary said that she had been to the US where 36 teams of 6 turned up at a show!
Wow!

Oh such beautiful horses gentle giants, I would love to have seen them Arlene hope you had a lovely day....:~)))

Thanks Mobee ~we did!
I remember my gran's milkman having two beauties pulling a wooden cart with metal milk crates and glass bottles~quite a while ago but fresh in my memory.
~after the milk round they were turned out into a field next to the stables where they spent the day in the sun!
I wish there where more of them around!

Your visit to this show sounds just wonderful..perhaps I will make it to it one day! Yes the Clydesdales are very popular here...cannot get enough of them.

I love to watch the pulls at our fair when I get a chance..they use the big Percherons for that..they are simply massive and what magnificent athletes they are..all horses are really...oh you know me..I could go on and on about any horse...lol...

~it is about 100 to 120 miles from North Wales Caroline so about the same distance for us~
The next flower show will be in early May next year but not so much animal related as the Autumn one~ would be nice to see you there!

27 Sep, 2009

Oh goodness with that long a trip I would think I would have to plan for the Autumn one as I would not want to miss the Clydesdales..! :o)

27 Sep, 2009

~it only takes about 1 hour 45 mins for us ~our speed limits are 70mph~but the answer is to stay overnight ~there are some really nice hotels in the area and not far rrom there to Stratford on Avon~you would like that!

Oh Arlene - we must have walked within a few yards of you! What a shame we didn't arrange to meet up.

As Louise says, we had a great day - very tiring, though! I caught a glimpse of that red carriage through the trees, while the dogs were in the ring. We didn't get to watch the horses, though - no time!

Watch out for a blog later!

My daughter and I have just got back from the show and we are absolutely whacked , but what a wonderful day !!! Highly recomended !!!

27 Sep, 2009

It was good wasn't it ?
Sooo very tiring though, i agree.
Did you take pictures Valadel ?

27 Sep, 2009

~ Hi Valadel~ we enjoyed our day out too~it got really hot in the afternoon didn't it!
I have ordered a small 6 feet~ish wide by 4 feet~ish long greenhouse with toughened glass, louvre and opening roof vents~surprisingly roomy for it's size.

27 Sep, 2009

Yes Louise did take pics but staying with my daughter for a few days and I forgot to bring the "thingy" that connects the camera to the computer ------------ what a nerd !!!
By the way we are skint !!!!

27 Sep, 2009

~very easy to spend a fortune if you are not careful~perfectly justifiably of course!

27 Sep, 2009

Arlene , it was gardeners paradise and all in all lucky with the weather.
Hope you do'nt have to wait too long for your new greenhouse ( lucky you)

27 Sep, 2009

Of course!!!!!

27 Sep, 2009

Love the horses Arlene, they are beautiful. Did you place an order for anything special ?!

27 Sep, 2009

~No haven't ordered anything apart from the greenhouse but we did come home with quite a few cheeses and some lovely Jamaican ginger wine~very dark and smooth~could have gone back today and spent the whole day seeing what we missed yesterday~sorry we missed the dogs!

27 Sep, 2009

Sounds like you had a good time Arlene with some good purchases too.
When do you expect delivery of the greenhouse? How exciting.

27 Sep, 2009

~probably the end of October so we need to get the foundation sorted out asap.
I heard on Countryfile that Thursday night may be our first frost so will need to be getting acres of fleece out~got it all washed and ready which is more than I am~Noooo!
