November in Hungary

I am very surprised at what is going on in my garden this year.
We have had the warmest Autumn that we can remember since we came to live in Hungary 13 years ago.
In the past we have nearly always had hard frost in mid to late October, and often the first snow in late October or early November. This year we have had no frost yet and it is now November 9th, and none in forecast for the next week. Added to this the days have been unseasonably warm, touching 20 C only a few days ago.
This has had an effect in my garden which I am enjoying very much. The plants which would normally have been blackened by frost are still alive and kicking. The dahlias are still out, the annuals are still flowering such as Morning Glory, Tagites, scabious and many others. In addition we have had wonderful Autumn colours this year. I know it won’t last much longer, but I’m making the most of it.
Here are a few photo’s to prove it. I know for those who live with the effect of the gulf stream it is normal for you to still have plenty of colour around, but for us it is unusual
1. The Wisteria leaves are a brilliant yellow this year
2. Pink Chrysanthemums are at their best now.
3 Red dahlias still going strong
5. Fuscias on the terrace
6. The Cotinus leaves are glowing
7. Theres plenty of yellow around. Here is a Hazel shrub with Tagites behind.
8. Scabious “Summer berries” are still flowering.
9. The thunbergia is flowering more than ever.
10. Osteospermums still flowering
11. Gazanias too
12. Not to mention a galliardia
13. AND the Abutillon
14. The Zebra grass flowers are enjoying the sun.
15. Blue Vinca minor is smiling shyly at us.
16. As we walk along this path there is stil a blaze of colour.
17. I love this pot of white Chrysanths that brightens up my patio
18. The Conifer bed continues to please, and will still look good when the frost comes.
19. Other parts of the garden are still looking nice in an Autumnal sort of way.
20. Another pretty dahlia
21. Even the old pig house is resplendent covered in climbers.
22. Helenium is still out.
23. Surpising to see the day lilies still flowering too.
24. Lots of flowers on the morning Glory high in the tree.
25. Wherever I look there is still colour, be it leaf or flower, or the bright red dogwood stems.
I guess it will be a different story next year. The tropical weather is not here to stay I am sure.
This could be what we have to look forward to in the near future!!!

Golly, your flowers do still look good! Alas, mine all seem a distant memory now, as all my 'tenders' got slammed by a hard frost a week or so ago. I know spring came late for you, so it's making up for it now :-)

Wonderful, Chris! Thanks for showing us your 'unusual' autumn flowers. 20 degrees! Wow! You could sunbathe in that! How nice to get back and find your garden looking so good.

Beautiful colorful pix, and I heard that the Pineapple Express (what you are experiencing as you are on the same lateral lines as Washington State) is causing much flooding in Washington and Oregon and unseasonably warmth as well. Here in Arizona, it is lovely and warm with 80's days and 60's nights. We are enjoying it.
Keep on enjoying God's handiwork in your lovely garden, this too shall pass!!! ha ha ......and snow will come only too soon and it will also be beautiful and clean again.
Enjoy!!!

Thanks for all your comments. Things are dying down a little more now. The first frost is forecast for next week, with the possibilility of snow too. This is a more than a month later than last year's first frost. I do look forward to the beauty of the frost and snow too.

Hi Chrisp. I keep having another look at your photos, the colours in your flowers are truly remarkable. They are stupendous photos. All those bright coloured flowers and then the snow picture to end - there is a genius in you.
Keep doing it!

Glad you got home safely. :o)
So lovely to see all those flowers still doing well.
Have you noticed any differences in late appearances of wildlife still around ~ butterflies or bees ?
