Latest news on the satellite dishes problem.

Do you remember a few weeks ago, I posted a question about hiding two enormous satellite dishes that had been erected at the end of our garden? Well, since then two positive steps have been taken.
This is how it looked when first installed.
On Saturday we planted a 12ft tall Golden Birch, it does actually reach the base of the left hand pole.
I’m really pleased it was half price, as the print on the label had weathered away.
A different angle, but you can see how it will cover the dish in a couple of years.
Today and Lo and Behold, just before the snow came, the right hand one was replaced with this mesh smaller dish,
fantastic! We’re hoping the other one will be changed when the weather clears….that would be perfect….:o)))
In the Silver Birch, the Blackbirds were surveying the goings on, and I’m sure they approved……:o))

There is Hywel, and they were breaking them. The council had asked them to replace them with smaller dishes and much to our surprise, they have followed it up! For three seasons, the dishes will be hidden, we cant ask for more in today's world......
Thanks Kidsgran, yes we are quite happy with the outcome, and are looking forward to seeing the new tree in spring....:))

dont know why they have to have 2 such big dishes... the normal sky dish isnt like this is it.... its a shame you have to look at them...
in my last house we had to look at a wind turbine on the roof in the neighbours back garden and it made a terrible noise as well... Luckily they took it down and put up solar panals.....hope the tree hides it....

Satelite dishes do look very unsightly and I don't like them either. Fifty or sixty years ago those funny 'H' shaped things were popping up on all the chimneys and we had just the same complaints then. Everyone want to have a television so the aerials became accepted as part of the furniture and gradually became smaller as technology improved. In a few years time we probably won't need exterior aerials at all.

Thanks for all your input everyone...... I think we can stand them now, just for the winter months, and yes San you're right, when the club closes at night the owners just go home, not a thought for these beasties. Yes I remember those Bulba, they were huge, thin metal things, let's hope the times not too far away when the dishes become more saucers...lol!

You don't think that the tree will interfere with your signal eventually? They told us when they installed our dish that if it gets covered with snow/ice we may have to clean it off to get the signal to work again. Thankfully we haven't had that problem YET as the dish is kind of out of reach!

I hope so Floral, these arent our dishes....:o)) the problem had been the installation of these beasts by locals who have a club...that is the back of it there, a methodist chapel. Huge eyesores they were, they have since replaced one with a smaller mesh dish, but the other beast remains. It is only our garden that enjoys this view...:o((

I think there should be planning permission for such unsightly things. They're an eyesore.
I hope the other dish will be changed for a smaller one anyway Janey.
And I'm pleased you've got that tree. It will be much nicer to look at :o)
