Spring Tidy

Well it’s been a wonderful day, so warm and sunny. It was time…the lawn needed a mow. It’s amazing the difference it made and the garden now looks neater and I can see where I need to sort out borders and straggling weeds and plants.
I had a bit of a wander to see what the plants were upto and it was great to see so many shoots coming through.
I cleaned out our little water feature
In summer this is surrounded by crocosmia and mint. I’ve placed rocks on there so anything that falls in can climb out and when I moved one to get to clean the pump, a frog shot to the far side! Our neighbour has a pond with frogs that hop across our garden so hopefully one has made a home in our little feature!
I was thinking about having a pond at some point but am quite amazed that such a small water feature can be a wildlife haven.
A little wren recently used it as a bird bath too!
The crocuses under the buddleia have spread too
My Ena Harkness rose has more growth than ever after I moved it in the Autumn but has a bit of frost damage I think. I hope it flowers well this year, It’s gorgeous when it does.
My new climbing roses from JParkers seem to be sprouting new growth too.
I can’t wait until next weekend to get some serious planting in now!

Lovely blog. Fantastic pictures of the wren. I love them. Haven't seen one in our garden for a couple of years. Hopefully, we'll see some this year, they are such sweet little birds.

Lovely photographs - especially of the little wren. I haven't seen one for years.
