Runner Bean Chutney

2 lb Runner Beans – prepared as if to eat
1 1/2 lb Onions
1 lb Demerara Sugar
1 1/2 pint Vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon dry Mustard
1 1/2 tablespoon Turmeric
2 tablespoon Cornflour

Cook beans for 7 mins in salt water and strain.
Chop onions and boil in 1/2 pint of vinegar for 10 mins.
Mix altogether, except cornflour and cook slowly for 1/2 hr.
Add cornflour mixed with a little vinegar and cook for a further 10 minutes.

POT…….and keep for at least a month before eating.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do, it is really good with any meats, including burgers and sausages.

I'm getting lots of apples now as well, although my own eating apple tree is only in its 2nd year. I make Apple Cheese, its really useful to use with pork when you can't be bothered to make apple sauce.
