What's been happening in the last week.

I expect, like a lot of you, we have been dodging showers and downpours since the beginning of the year. At last there has been a few glimpses of the sun so we have been busy trying to catch up on outside jobs in the last week.
OH has heroically been cleaning the patio and paths, a long, dirty job spread over a few mornings. We had quite a few pots to move off it before he could get going but it looks so much better now. And after 2 years of wear not so blindingly coloured!
The next maintenance job is touching up the fence paints before the plants come back into full leaf. However, we haven’t experienced a long enough spell of dry weather to make that feasible.
I have been keeping everything going in the greenhouse and feeding all the plants inside and out. This year I have every intention of trying to keep up with the feeding and watering regime, an aim which has been sadly lacking in the past. The weather never seems to comply with our intentions, does it?
Are you keeping up so far or is the weather scuppering your efforts?

That's a great job done well, Ange. I imagine all the moving of pots was pretty arduous work! I'm with you, we were only saying the other day, we must feed our plants more this year!!
We've had several pleasant days here, it rained overnight and possibly raining later this pm.
We are hoping to replace some turf this weekend and replace and rejig some cobbled areas too. Weather dependent.

Thanks, Karen. OH has been heroic in his efforts with the paving in the garden. I, too, have my feet up this pm. although there's plenty I could be doing if it would just stop raining! No doubt we shall be told the reservoirs are drying up in the summer and to ease up on the watering ourselves....
Glad the landscaping will start soon. There'll be no holding you back then! Good luck with it all. I know from having this patio relaid what a quagmire the garden space can look until all is completed. Patience is a virtue!
Kate, getting on at all is VERY weather-dependent at the moment, isn't it? So frustrating! We woke up to beautiful sunshine this morning and got almost excited at the prospect of work outside (strange people, I know...) but it was throwing sleet about by the time we had finished breakfast. Good luck with your weekend plans.
Meadow, I'm slightly panicking over getting the fences finished before the shrubs come out in full as we can't get at them once the leaves have grown without running the risk of having our eyes poked out! There just never seems to be enough drying time between downpours to make the job worthwhile. We don't want to run the risk of the stain being diluted. Good luck with your efforts.

“We” have also had the pressure washer out, and the clean slabs make me smile every time I look out 🙂. OH says the circular brush attachment makes the job so much easier. It is crazy how quickly the weather changes from day to day, but at least it’s becoming a little milder … fingers crossed for a gardening Easter weekend for all of us!

It looks great now Ange! I have my patio area to clean when I feel better after having anothe virus infection again!
I have so much to catch up on.
Hopefully the weather will stay dry so that I can get both lawns cut!

Patio looks lovely now. I am watching 'Around the world in 80 gardens' by Monty Don purely to see some sunshine and fabulous gardens! Last night the episode I watched was from Australia and New Zealand, absolutely wonderful episode.
I have a Lavender to plant in the front gravel garden but am delaying doing so until the weather improves. Who knows when that might be?

Thanks for all your comments. It sounds like we are all getting frustrated with the weather.
Hope you feel better soon, Rose.

Well, I’m sitting with my feet up on the sofa, counting the days to the Landscaper coming to give me a garden! Like you I’d every intention of painting my fence, but there has been no chance of doing that and it’s pouring again today. I’ve never known a wet winter like it! I think your patio looks great. For a minute I thought it was new!
