NEWBIE'S CLEMS

Hi Everyone
I am new to gardening and I planted these Clems last summer and thought they had died on me. I now have a mixture of Daniel Deronda, Marie Boisselot and Angelique I am so pleased to see they have come back more robust. The DD’s are meant to be a vivid puple colour but despite fiddling with my camera settings they have come out very blue. The only problem is that they are not in a very sheltered spot and the blustry winds we have had here this week have now blown a lot of petals off. I had not given any consideration when planting about the location, but I am learning…..
Any ideas of what to plant in between my trellis’s now? Think I might need some sort of evergreens/more climbers and then fill in with flowers? The height of my wall is about 10ft. The spaces in between are about 2ft. and have four spaces to fill. I have learn such a lot about gardening through this great site. This time last year I knew absolutely nothing!
A huge thanks to you everyone, especially Barbara who’s wonderful garden collection of plants and knowledge has filled me with inspiration. I do have some other borders with plants growing, shall post them all when ‘things get going’.

What about a round boxus (think that is how you spell it) you could have them all different shapes and sizes or all the same shape, they are evergreen (I think) and you could plant them in nice pots and have a bit of colour all year round. Lovely clematis, even though the wind has blown them about.

They look very happy there, Annelise, despite the windy weather.
