Peonies & Roses 2013

I’ve only been gardening for a few years and this will be my 3rd year at growing Peonies and I was really suprised to count 25 buds on my ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ last week. Sadly the rain and wind snapped a couple of stems off some of them, but they looked magnificent in a vase. ‘Kansas’ produced extremely huge flowers, much better than last year.‘Bowl of Beauty’ is in it’s 2nd year and had a lot more flowers this time. It’s such a shame these flowers are not around for longer as I could just look at them all summer. I thought I has solved the problem of supporting them all with hoops this year but alas the rain this week has still made them droop right over. I won’t be beaten though, next year I think I’ll do what another member does and improvise with wire in the hoops.

Thanks Hywel - By The way, remember those Thompson & Morgan Fushia's I planted out last year, well there's not been a peep out of them, no foliage nothing.....

Amazing flowers, well done on producing such an abundance of them.

Well done you, they look gorgeous. I have always tied mine up, but this year I let them do their own thing and I think I prefer it even though the huge blooms do make them droop over I thought they still looked good and not so contrived.

I'm sorry to hear about your fuchsias. Maybe they were a bit small to be planted in the ground. Are you going to try some more ?
