My Downunder Garden In Flower - Winter 2010 (June to August)

I’m catching up with the record of what’s flowering in my garden through the seasons. Now that it’s already the first month of Spring Downunder, I thought I’d better catch up with what was going on during our Winter.

Now … if you’re looking for huge borders full of perennials and annuals, my garden has no such thing. Most of the flowers featured are on the potted plants that fill my Courtyard and Shadehouse/Greenhouse Gardens. My property is not suitable for borders … there are some outdoors garden beds and I will be showing some of the blooms on the trees out there.

Anyway …. here’s the link to my blog post. It’s easier to add the link than to create the whole blog again … so this is me being a little bit lazy!

Thanks so much Angie, Linda, Annella, Sixpence and Hywel.

Linda ... thank you for your great comment on my blog post ... and I see you signed the Guestbook. You're a old hand at this now!

Sixpence ... I'm glad you enjoyed the photos and the music ... No I didn't talk on this video clip as I wasn't feeling all that well that day and my voice would have been so croaky! Maybe that's why the butterfly kept on dancing around ... it couldn't hear my voice!!!!

Thanks Catfinch ... blogging is great fun and a great way to meet gardeners from all over the world. I'm glad you enjoyed the flowers ... I'm hoping the display will last for quite some time yet.

Fantastic colours & variations Bernie. I do most of my plants in pots for the bowling green and you've given me some inspired ideas about colour there, thankyou. The judges for the annual borough in bloom came in July, results announced 14th Oct, whatever the result, I will be keeping your blog for reference next time around.

Thanks Littlelegs ... yes most of my flowering plants are in pots. I must have nearly 100 out in the courtyard garden new ... and lots more in the greenhouse/shadehouse garden area as well. It's necessary given the nature of my property here ... especially if I want lots of lovely colour in the garden.

Cate ... thank you so much. It can be divine up here ... during the Autumn through Spring, but Summer is fast approaching and that time is anything but divine for the garden and me!!!

Thanks Sanbaz ... fingers crossed that the rain we've been receiving during our Winter-Spring doesn't mean a dry Summer this year. Stinking hot and bone dry does not a great Summer make!!!

Enjoyed catching up with your wonderful garden. Winter gardens in Northern Qld put our summer gardens to shame. Well, almost! It's funny to be comparing end of winter gardens with end of summer gardens, since we are now at the back end of the season, and several of us have been posting blogs about our end of summer gardens, which, by and large, don't quite compare with your end of winter one! In a month's time I'll be in Brisbane to enjoy the early summer gardens and that topsy turvy feeling that comes from being in one season one day, and 24 hours later being in an entirely different season the next.

Thanks Kowhai ... there has been quite a bit of lovely colour this year, but we've had some unseasonal rainfall which certainly helped. When Summer rolls around the garden will not be all that attractive.
I know you're going to love Brisbane in the Spring. Make sure you get to the Roma Street Parklands while you're there ... you won't be disappointed. I often pop down to Brisbane ... children and grandchildren live down there ... and I love the place. You will just adore the Southbank area as well. Have fun!!
