Fathers Day and a little sadness

Sadness on two counts Firstly both my sons were away although they did leave sufficient for me to drown my sorrows on the second count.
That being that my lovely tree Fern is no longer with me after 11 years .When it was uncovered in early may the new fronds in the crown had already formed but alas they are dry and hollow, moral seems to be that the trunk should have been protected as well as the crown .
I received a card from Jamie my best boy so as no one wanted to take me out for lunch myself and best boy went for a walk with the camera in a rough meadow area a mile or so from home.
We had Herons flying overhead and a green woodpecker darting around looking for food for its family.
Below are a few of the pictures taken along the way.
The pretty moths are Burnet Moths they were every where feeding
Lots of summer colour all around its another garden
On returning home I was aware of a commotion in the sky to the rear of the house.
In the sky above there was Buzzard being harassed by about 10 Seagulls and it was circling and rising on the thermals going ever higher until it was a little more than a dot in the sky by this time all the Seagulls had given up and gone home.Although we see quite a few Buzzards i have never seen one rise vertical in this manner before.
I saw something new but still wearing my black arm band.
May as well leave it on shall need it after the next England match i expect.
I have added these last 2 photos taken last year as a final farewell.some one asked if I will plant another,I am not sure.

What a sad day for you Bjs, but a delight to walk with Jamie across the beautiful meadow lovely pictures love those moths so pretty. I think phones have made people more lonely, I have my children close at hand yet hardly see them, once a week on a Sunday my son and wife has started to invite me for a Sunday dinner. They have their own lives and thats how society has become now sadly. Its a sad shame to lose your fern after 11 years, what kind was it, could you replace it.? I ve ticked I like as I love your walk.

Your walk obviously cheered you up and you did have your best boy for company, lovely photo`s, I`m a wimp when it comes to moths but have to admit those in the pic are very pretty..
We have Red Kites near us and one comes over daily searching for food, I keep trying to get a photo but no luck so far, if it comes down low the local crows chase it off, fascinating to watch as it can be quite an aggressive show...
As to that other matter,I threatened to take our flag down today and hubby nearly had a fit, he`s still living the dream bless him..

Nice photos of some wild plants. I love them.
Now I saw a seagul attacking a crow yesterday. They often attack other birds, but I've also seen crows attacking a buzzard :o( Why don't they leave eachother alone ? They have the whole sky so there's plenty of room. And I would have thought seaguls and crows and buzzards eat different food anyway, so what's their problem ? :(
