bliss....Gosh that was some years ago, digging up old memories here Bogwitch!!! I know what you mean about smells, just the overall smell of a wet garden, mean't freedom from the house, you could play out again after a downpour!!

The smell inside my Aunties' greenhouse which was full of tomatoes. That was nearly 70 years ago, and I never smell it now. Our greenhouse is full of tomatoes, but I don't get that particular smell anymore. I wonder if the varieties are different now.

Do you know Mad, me and OH were just talking about that very thing, tomatoes don't seem to smell as strong as they used too, unless its us getting older and senses less keen!!!

I think Dido that a lot of produce is bred now for looks, shape and keeping qualities (shelf life) rather than taste, and smell. I don't think its us.

I remember being a kid on the beach and my mam getting out the egg and tomato sandwiches. They always tasted great even though the tomatoes were soggy and we managed to get sand in them, and everywhere else for that matter...lol. I love the smell after a good downpour, can't beat it....:o)

Pork scratchings with lashings of salt..............marmite and lettuce sandwiches,

as for smell, tomatoes still do it for me but you have to brush up against them. Pinks remind me of my grandparents garden. And went to London last week and it still smells of London!!
