Spring delivery .

As I arrived for work on a glorious sunny day – was it really only a month ago couldnt drive up here due to snow ? These little fellas ’ arrived ’ to greet me .

Less than 5 minutes old and able to stand albeit wobbly at first.

Now you require a good wash says mum .You can still see the umbilical cord attached a little keen to be off arent they..

Proud mum poses with twins.

Farmer says all born this week ..in the background Scarborough Castle .Sun shining looking out to sea, lambs being born under your nose we re living in difficult times but things like this melt all those difficulties away for a while so enjoy these moments …

Doesnt take them long to recognise the guy who feeds them ..quick then

Or becoming a little inquisitive ..careful in there. Last year the lambs got through the fence and into flower borders couldnt call them a pest but didnt do the plants much good .

Thats it stay where your fed and watered

Came home to find this chap wandering through the wild part of the garden – erm plenty of it ..

The rooks invading the pond – you should see the colour of the water after they ve finished !

Then the jackdaws join in …

Then the little ones arrive Goldfinches and Siskins

Closer up you can see female on left male on right the smallest member of the finch family often mistaken for a Greenfinch but Siskins much smaller and delicate.

Oh you may wonder about the pile of twigs in the background – well planned to have a bonfire then saw a hedgehog investigate. The rooks then used it for nesting material and stripped moss off the roof – now a pair of wrens have nested in the middle of it !

This fella become so tame follows me round the garden for the sultanas I always have in my pocket – being a typical man forget to empty them before trousers in the wash…

Woodland border filling …

A variegated Vinca minor which personally prefer to the major type as find they get straggly and leave a lot of old stems behind.
Have a Bowles beauty somewhere which is a great ground cover plant and a white one somewhere else…

Drumstick primula to prove we do have a few flowers ..the little wisteria is a mass of flower buds in only its second year and bought for £5 as it was so tiny …cant wait for those .Finally

Some frog spawn in the pond

And a bonkers daffodil ..what ? well it might just flower :-)

Thank you just felt a real burst of spring seeing this with so much to look forward to. Hope the icy blast predicted for this week not too bad esp. for these little ones.

Love the Dales Sbg great time of year to visit.
See you been busy too Clarice - I should post a pic of my shed you wont believe it still standing !

Aye Lincslass yes very lucky to be surrounded by all this and had to stay late at work because got so absorbed by it all. Oh those poor daffs actually grow in the rotting bark and struggle to come up each year - they re not in a pot honest .Which probably explains why so pale and reluctant to flower !

Lovely blog, BB and beautiful photos. When we first moved to Romney Marsh my twins were aged about 6. They saw a sheep eating the afterbirth and were amazed that sheep liked 'liver'!! They were more interested in that than the new-born lambs :) Hope to see a photo of your tree daffodil!

Thank you Gilli and Marge so nice to have sun - that said weve had four seasons in one day today! High winds rain sun and several heavy hailstone showers ..

Gosh Gilli you do recall the area well .yes just outside Scalby on the Burnistone road ..Scalby Nabs ? Its a lovely spot acres of grounds with a variety of old farm buildings have seen a pair of barn owls and little owls wish could get closer to photo and not always easy to drop machinery and grab the camera !

Good to have pictures of the countryside being a farmers daughter I do miss it....living in the south does have its compensations (though not this winter)
BB forgot to tell you we moved the feeders down the garden and it has been a success!! blue tits great tits robins and some very greedy collared doves.....just need a camera with a zoom now.

I do remember that area very well BB. My favourite area of Yorkshire. Interestingly, I have found out that it is the area where my ancestors lived for centuries. I wonder if it is in my genes?

Can't help but be interested. And to think that I only found this site by chance as I wanted some advice on putting in a pond.....

The vile weather has allowed me to spend all my time on here but hope to get outside in next few days.....we live in hope eh?

29 Jul, 2009

Agree....think everyone in need of some warm sunshine now.Just watch everything take off in the gardens after all this rain ! Will help all I can when you construct your pond. The site of ours was a rubble fillled "barbeque area ",covered in broken glass with an icecream tub sunk in ground for a "pond" .! Would you believe there was a frog in it ! As I dug it became clear that there had actually been an old outhouse there once. You should have seen all the rubbish !
One year on and feels as if the pond has been there forever.Did not introduce any wildlife...it found us.Sure you will find the same !
