BA'S ACT OF ATONEMENT. How could I have let this happen:-(

This is a clematis blue moon. This is how she spent the winter on my little quarry tile patio. The pot had been falling apart for years…and blue moon remained neglected:-( In 2009 the pot gave up the ghost and totally disintegrated. This Sunday I took action (about time methinks)

This is what I had to hack through, an overgrown jasmine, in order to get her out. You can just see the pot remains bottom right.

Oh the guilt… yes SHE’S ALIVE!!!! Surely such tenacity deserves reward.

SHE SAYS SHE FORGIVES ME:-)

looks a happy little moon now :)

Doesn't it look happy, It's been a good winter for pot sellers. I was in town yesterday and saw two very large pots outside shops that were in pieces. I hope you have better luck with the new one.

And you look happy too - a good way to start the spring.

Thanks all, Freesia, I still haven't forgiven myself;-) the new pot is plastic Heron, Wilkinsons best, but she will be in a sheltered place as Blue Moons colour needs shade. If her roots withstood this winter, almost bare...I have no fears for her. She does look somewhat happier Pam lol, and yes, me too Gurthbruins ( does your name mean anything special?) :-)

Bornagain, I recon plastic is the way to go, I can't tell the difference anyway. I like the slatey ones.

Forgiveness only comes if you are truly repentant, Bornagain!!

Make sure you shower this poor love with ooodles of TLC and then perhaps, only perhaps, will she not hold a grudge .... !

Better late than never.

Amazing what they put up with.....look forward to photos of her in bloom!

She looks so much happier now, and has room to grow on her own to show how pretty she is. Let us see some photos of her in the weeks and months to come.

Ba, Gb is simply - my name ! There was (is?) a Gurth in Ivanhoe, Bruins is common in Holland and means Brown.

Seaburngirl she was lovely when I bought her and deserves better:-) Perhaps someone could invent a bubble wrap sack to fit into large plastic pots as insulation, then they would be almost perfect Heron:-) Terry, mea culpa:-( but how could something so lovely hold a grudge:-) I was going to say bear a grudge, but couldn't remembere which bare bear it was. For some reason both seemed wrong lol. Stroller, I agree;-) Potty and Silverbelle, I will certainly show her in bloom, even if it's not very spectacular:-) Gb, doh 8~/ silly me:-))

Me too Hywel:-) I do hope so Lincslass:-)

Ba,Oh how you wonderful blog made me smile, I'm sure you will be forgiven, and she's proving just how tough she can be by clinging to life like she did lol! I have lost pots this year, though all my ones in the front garden are still bubble wrapped just in case! My OH(other half), pointed out some pots in the GC yesterday, they are called 'Yorkshire' pots, and though slightly more expensive, are guarenteed, wait for it....for 50years!!!! Just wonder who I would take it back to if it cracked in its 49th year though! LOL :~)))

3 Apr, 2010

Lol Flori, I wonder what happens to it in year 51? They must think we're stupid, even allowing that they're still there, can you imagine dragging yourself and cracked pot to the garden centre after 49 years and them asking for the receipt:-))

Well, I do love a challenge Ba, but think they might have to dig me up first lol!!

I'm sure as a reward you could spare Blue Moon a little lime. All clematis love lime in the spring. She's doing well isn't she? Best of luck.

1 May, 2010

Thanks Songthrush, I have bought some lime, but not sure what to do with it, do all clematis like it? :-)

1 May, 2010

Hold the lime B.A clematis love rich compost the more green manure the better, as for the prior neglect displayed I only hope that my garden and plants are even half as forgiving

Thanks Stuckinthemud, I've got loads of new clematis to plant soon when makeover is finished:-) I was amazed she had survived, sometimes you treat them like royalty and they die on you, who can figure? :-)
