HEUCHERA RUST EXPERIMENT

In May I noticed one of my beautiful new heucheras (bought early last year) had succumbed to the horrific rust which had first decimated my heucheras some years ago. There was hardly a leaf unscathed. It was my favourite new one called wild rose, such a beauty, ok in sun too.

Some weeks before I had ordered rubbing alcohol as I had trouble with sooty mold last year and had read that rubbing alcohol could help.

I removed all affected leaves from wild rose and, using cotton eye makeup remover pads soaked in the rubbing alcohol, wiped the remaining leaves. I had nothing to lose. Wild rose was placed in quarantine away from all other heucheras and I would inspect the underside of her leaves every few days, always expecting the worse. Here she is now weeks on. Still no sign of rust.

I will let you know of any change, but possibly a way of controlling or even curing heuchera rust, which I believe came here from USA. Fingers crossed X :-)

Ps no problem with sooty mold this year yet
