A walk on the wild side...

Brendan went walking today, and I saw lots of this lovely scenery yesterday, but that was by car. We visited Woodchester Manor which was really enthralling. It is in such a beautiful valley and the area has such a calming atmosphere I didn’t want to leave it. As always, when out either walking or driving Brendan always takes his camera, so I thought you might like to see some shots. The picture of a plaque is similar to a Japanese Haiku which is a short piece of nonintrusive poetry and only consists of two lines. This one reads –
The trees among the hills.
The hills among the trees.
and it is very old, and the fourth one is a shot of many layers of stone that have been exposed by light , so this landscape is very old indeed.
I could also have mentioned there are reputedly twelve of the Haikus, but Brendan was informed by some other walkers that several of them have been vandalised, and he has found four so far and hopes to find some more…
I am now attempting to upload some more.

Absolutely magnificent!! I come from a sunny and dry country and I appreciate and love this green and pleasant land very much. On the other hand I do not understand why hundreds of thousand of people prefer to leave and settle on a desert like location in order to enjoy the sun and the sandy beaches. It's a matter of choice may be, as we can't have all in one place.

Yes Bilbo, that's why I envy my son his walks. He walked for about twenty miles round trip yesterday, and I agree with your comment about the gate. I particularly like the rustic pics...

Hi Costas and thanks lots for your generous comments. I love the green too, but I think, while the green looks nice, when it's cold, wet and dreary here we dream of dry, warm and sunny. Hence the yearning for warmer climes...

Yes, Hywel, it is indeed, but you need to be fit to do the walking. I mostly get about by car and, of course, one doesn't see all this scenery. Such a shame. England is such a beautiful country. Thank you for your nice comment...

You would think it was mid summer. Beautiful blue skies, what a view also.
