A wonderful present.

My Husband bought me a present the other day, it was pipe lagging for insulating pipes. I cut it to size and put it around the trunk of my standard fushia, together with its bubble wrapped pot and put it into my ‘plastic tempory’ greenhouse. Its placed on a ground sheet sitting on a triangle of wood to prevent it from freezing. It has a blanket of fleece to keep it warm to. The remainder of the lagging was put around the newly fitted outside tap to stop that from freezing. No heat in the plastic house but I hope it works.
I could’nt have been happier with my present.

That sounds a good idea. I hope it works.
Have you got the plastic house in shelter - by a wall or something ? That might help too.
I hope you don't have a freezing tap either :o)

Yes thanks Hywel, it is under a pergola next to the garage, quite a sheltered place. It s a tempory measure Ive taken, just for this winter. I'm hoping I can have the real thing for next year. I hope it works but gardening is all about trial and error, I just hope this is not an error, lol

I have been pleased I bought my plastic mini-greenhouse (£18) as it has made extra space for storing my supposedly hardly perennials, lost 3 last year, with the prices still on the pots. Have brought all the rest of the container plants down into main greenhouse.
Have Elephant Garlic corms growing in sectioned plastic trays, so have put them in the mini-greenhouse too to make more space. Strange how some plants dont like being on the lower shelf of the staging in the main greenhouse. Not enough light I suppose.

Very inventive - a brilliant idea! Hope your fuchsia survives the winter.
