Golitha Falls

On these grey damp days it is lovely to remember …
a visit to Golitha (pronounced Goleetha) Falls, on the River Fowey, on Bodmin Moor on a beautiful day in late May this year. Because it is tucked away down narrow lanes, it is rarely overcrowded with visitors.

looking at the news it seems you are to get the brunt of the bad weather-- your falls are beautiful now and probably seriously 'busy' after the weekend!

Thanks folks.
I imagine the water is flowing even faster today!
The weather here is pretty rough. The rain has stopped, at least temporarily, but the winds are fierce. A day for staying wrapped up warm, indoors I think.

Just great Claire...we've always loved Devon & Cornwall...there's something so much more magical about the rivers in these counties. Tumbling waterfalls over huge rocks & beautiful clear water...absolutely lovely. Thank you for these photos...breathtaking.

Smashing pictures Claire... we go to Cornwall 2-3 times a year but usually to the far southwest. Actually your pics reminded me of Dartmoor; the area around Chagford and Moretonhampstead, beautiful.

Thanks for your kind comments folks.
We do feel very lucky to have been able to settle here. I was born and raised in Cornwall but left for England and the wider world when I was 18 and that was a long time ago. It's great to be back home again.
Yes, the moors in Cornwall are pretty rugged too, just not as extensive as Dartmoor.

Yep, very mindful of Dartmoor. Had friends in Mortonhampstead a while back Rbtkew.
