At one time i did that, but for about 5yrs i've been trying to encurage wildlife in my garden, and so i've been trying other things that are armless to them, i do get quite alot of birds now so both them methods would kill them if they ate anything that had been killed with pellets or salt.

good idea clarice, and even better that it worked despite the rain.

Clarice, I posted this in the question/answer area of the website. This is how I keep slugs of of my hosta, A nice thick ring of sawdust every couple of weeks is all they need!. The slugs/snails hate things sticking to their wet skin, so once they feel the sawdust, they crawl the other way!
