Goodbye bad habits!

Well you lot have had a very positive effect on me in the short time I have been a member here…instead of just: “Oooh! I like that. Plonk.”, you have made me think, consider, ponder, contemplate, deliberate, assess, compare, contrast, research…and then plonk!..

No, I really have taken stock. I have such a little garden, but very grateful to have it because I know some people only have balconies or nothing at all and I do love trying to make something of it. I know I have made some bloomers (see what I did there? a play on words) but they say we learn by our mistakse (see… did it again) but it is such a buzz to know that advice is only couple of clicks away now.

I had a bit of a funny turn one day this week when I came home and discovered one of my sons had actually dug over the tiny piece of overgrown grass at the top of my steps… I had been nagging for one of them to do it for weeks. It is such a small patch that having grass there is totally impractical, so I think I will try and pave it or a pattern of old bricks would be nice….see I’m thinking outside the box now! Then I will turn my attention to which plants would be best to cover the ‘orrible fence. Then put guttering on my little shed. Then buy a spacesaving water butt and attach it. Then ….then…then…ooh! I’m getting all excited.

It’s funny. Many years ago, I, Chief Sceptic and Head Cynic, had my cards read and the lady told me I would never be truly happy until I could look out of my window and see green. Quite vague, I suppose, but when “Till death us do part” was assigned to my, now ex, husband’s recycle bin, I had to move here and when I look out of my study window now, I see this….

and when I look out of my bedroom window, I see this….

It’s hard to know what has made me the happiest…seeing green or seeing red!

There's nothing as good as being positive so I'm glad you feel that way and that we've all helped a little. You have nice views. and i'm glad they make you feel happy like you were told they would.

That wall is greening up beautifully now - must be lovely to wake up to. The brick ideal is really good - another place to sit and have that glass - or two!
