Little additions at the Front

Afternoon all! What a beautiful crisp Winter’s day! I thought I’d take this opportunity to record the work I’ve recently done in the little West-Facing front garden.
The builders left me 6 pretty dwarf hebes and a dozen Liriope. Neither of which are wonderful, but the Hebes are now making a pretty hedge along the driveside and the bees adore them. So they can stay. I’ve added daffodils, achillea terracotta and some ochre coloured Digitalis there too. Well out of Niamh’s playing areas. And my Christmas tree covers the drain nicely too.
The Liriope though. Sorry. Not for me. I left them past their flowering which is very unimpressive. You hardly see the lilac blooms at all as they are shorter than those floppy grassy leaves. So a few weeks ago they all went in the compost bin, and I ordered half a dozen more Hellebores, all ‘Molly’s White’ which I love, and already had one of.
I also planted three evergreen shrubs which I had been growing in pots. 2 Photinia, 1 Pink Crispy and 1 Pink Marble. The other shrub is a brick red Coprosma. The daffodils are very late pushing up this year. Hardly a sign of them. But no sign of rodents either, so I will just have to be patient and have faith!
Here are a couple of pics of the hellebores that I planted last year. One red nestling in the Photinia Pink Marble, the other a pretty pink behind it.
And here’s the big potted one beside the Nandina. I ‘now it’s quite the clash, but in February, really..who cares?
In the little border between the pavement and the hedge I have added some snowdrops and cyclamen today. There are species tulips (pink ones) in there and Bergenia ‘Eroica’ with Lambs Ears Stachys which are all doing well.
That’s all for today at the front. I have planted 3x Erysimum ‘Winter Orchid’ and 3 lovely Credale Strain Hellebores in the back. Photos of them to come!

You've done quite a bit of work out there and I'm sure you'll be rewarded as it matures into something lovely.

Thank you. It certainly is different to what we got when we moved in.
