Tidy up time!

It’s been a miserable winter in my house. Three really nasty chest infections on the trot since the start of December and ending up at the GP and then antibiotics, inhaler, chest x-Ray and ECG. Feeling a lot better now, so this week I had my first walk to town and back which was a bit much but I survived! On returning home I didn’t want to come indoors, so set about tidying up one side of the garden.

Pruned the red rose, picked up all the detritus, weeds pulled and swapped a conifer for a hellebore. Then forked over the soil lightly to let some air in. This was Thursday. Friday I knew all about it!

I’ll do the other side soon and then all will be ready for the new growing season which is now just around the corner. This winter has felt far too long. Our first snow came 21st November and since then it has been cold and grey.

I had a friend that decamped every year to somewhere warm for 2 months. What a brilliant thing if you can. GoYers annual conference, Jan-Feb in Gran Canaria? Yes please! ;)

While in Town I treat myself to some Grape Hyacinths.

Karen, I called out to Michael about spending time in Gran Canaria over the Winter months and he's all for it! Hasn't this been such a grey and damp few months? Weather forecast for end of next week sees the temperature in double figures, allegedly, albeit only 10 or 11 but that's higher than of late.

Your garden looks pretty good in the dull weather ... well done!

Sorry to hear about your ills during the winter. It's horrid when you come down with something nasty and just can't shake it.

Fingers crossed Spring comes early for you.

Nice to be able to do a bit in the garden I'm hoping to do some today, I've done the odd little job here and there and better weather here today :-))

Yes, sunshine here today and it was wonderful! Thank you all for your good wishes. I’ve now go a stinker of a head cold. All these ‘blessings’are courtesy of the nursery where my Grandaughter goes every week and brings home a new delight for us! Eugh!
