Too cold for gardening!

Brrrrr! It’s cold out there! Yesterday we woke up to a scattering of snow, it was snowing until about 12noon, gradually getting thicker. I finally managed to kick Benji out into the garden at 1pm to do his business, he’d been crossing his legs since 9.15 the previous night, he wouldn’t go out, despite me opening the door a few times for him :D

After that it started raining/sleeting and the wind really got up, knocking over the wheelbarrow, straight into the Rhus. Luckily it didn’t break the fragile stem though so all’s good :) A few other pots were blown over and the Clematis at the front is really bending over, I hope it doesn’t break off before I have chance to rescue it….

I can’t believe this time last week it was lovely and warm, I spent all week in the garden. I’ve covered the Cordyline with fleece as it’s the only plant I’m worried about – there’s no room in the mini greenhouses to put it back in there!

The waterbutt was overflowing so I had to let some of the precious water out to stop it gushing over. I reckon we’ll be getting another when the garden is done. It looks like all next week is going to be cold and dreary so I’ll be hibernating!

Fingers crossed summer comes soon so we get some nice weather for our holiday in the Lake District! Hope you’re all well and keeping warm :)

Although the snow didn`t get down to us, thank goodness, I agree its very cold, I did have a walk around and checked the greenhouse but soon came back indoors, typical weather for a holiday isn`t it, suntops in the garden for the end of Mar and a fleece and wellies now, I don`t mind the wellies as we needed all that rain but don`t like gardening in a winter jacket ,lol.
Have a good Easter Emma..

What a change in the weather, we had snow on and off all day but non that was sticking anyway. I too was a little concerned for a few of my plants which looked like they were going to snap eeek...luckily too that didn't happen. It's a pity it's too cold and blustery for pottering in the garden :( hopefully the temps will start to pick up a bit so we can get back to gardening. :))

We got back from Egypt on Tuesday (30 degrees) to Scotland freezing and sleet. We left on a lovely warm spring day......what happened???

Yes it's bitterly cold, but we've had no snow here. I hope your plants will be all right. Roll on nicer weather again

I have been out to check and everything seems to be OK.
It is not so cold now.....just dull.

Everything seems to be ok after the snow, I'm glad I put some fleece over the Cordyline. I still haven't managed to do anything out there yet. The sun keeps popping on this morning and it looks lovely out there but I can see the swing seat blowing backwards and forwards so I might give it a miss today. I'm a fair weather gardener lol! Thanks for your comments everyone :)
