Hostas and ferns are always good in the shade, depends how big the area is and what you really want to do with it, I have a raised bed that hardly ever gets the sun and then only dappled for late afternoon, it contains Hebes, Euonymus, Berberis, Spirea, for the height, under planted with Campanula, Iberis, Saxifraga, all those do well and have been there for years, I find blue and white flowers seem to do well in the shade, took me years to realise that, lol, you will find many to look at if you browse Shade Plants in the goypaedia A-Z pages, you'll be spoilt for choice...

Well done on your new purchases. What size of area in your shady space do you want to fill. I have a couple of pulmonaria cuttings that I could send to you. They are perennial and come back every year. They are good in shade. They are low growing flowering in spring and the foliage looks good all year round. If you are interested PM me your details.

hostas are lovely but are loved by the snails and slugs , yes you can protect with slug pellets but if you have pets they are not the best thing to use ,as they can be toxic also to wild life ,
