Anyone getting a new water butt for Christmas.........

remember to get a new tap washer and fit it, because if it has been stored outside, the existing washer will be rotten.
I watched my new water butt fill up during the winter months, and 3 months later it was empty !
Also get several spare washers and change the washer every 6 months.
The man I gave my £29 butt to in exchange for another
compost bin told me, after he had got the extra water butt he wanted. I found a old council wheelie bin that collects water alright, but have to fiddle about sucking the water out through a tube.
I wanted the extra compost bin so it was a good swop.
We live and learn.

Back to the age thing again Eirlys - I remember when they did last forever!
It's good isn't it Diane when you get the advice AFTER you have given something away, or thrown it away, but at least your was a swop.
