I have put up some of my artwork as requested by a member but only of nature, wildlife and gardens as anything else may break the sites rules.
I am not putting them up for selling (some are already sold anyway) or expecting to get commisions from showing them. They are here to show off my passion for nature, wildlife, gardening and of course art, and share that with you all.
Sorry about picture quality on some of them, they were taken with a film SLR camera and under artificial light and I was still learning how to photograph them.
I hope they do comform to the rules of the site but if not I shall remove them if notified.
Enjoy!

*Note: this is a picture of a butterfly in a frame, the “frame” is part of the picture and not a real frame. It is to look like a butterfly in a box frame (an illusion) note the shadowing under the butterfly and around the frame to give dimention and a 3D appearance.

dd they are really beautiful. The stilllife of fruit has a Van Gogh-esque look about it. The butterflies are so lifelike and the framed one, well its a good job you told us that the frame was part of the painting or I definitely wouldn't have known.
We have 2 talented artists on the site now.

Thank's for showing them to us Richard. You certainly have a great talent! I love the butterflies and as Mad said, would not have guessed that the frame was part of the picture, brilliant!

Thanx for all your kind comments.
For those that want to know I use all mediums but not oils, tried them and didn't like them.I prefer watercolours then acrylics as my 2nd favourite, most of these are watercolour,a few acrylics and some pastels.I like to experiment with mixed media as well using collage, paint, inks, wax and anything else I think will work.I even done a painting of the front of a house that had a natural stone wall,I actually stuck broken egg shells on and painted over,it gave a more 3d effect.Another painting of a beach scene I used real sand in the foreground, and stuck small shells on it.It gave it texture and made it 3d.
It's all about experimenting, you just don't know how it's gonna turn out.

For those that dabble and want to improve, practice, practice, practice, have a passion for it like you do your gardening (that's if you have a passion for gardening)lol. Each time you paint or draw don't try to make it a masterpiece, just experiment and enjoy it.Also when drawing especially from real life rather than a another picture, really look at your subject. You should be looking for more time than you are drawing. If you are looking down at your drawing for more than a couple of seconds you are not drawing what is in front of you.You are drawing what you think it looks like,(lesson over) lol.

I'm glad a lot of you like the poppies,I love painting them. Most of the poppy pictures are sold either at exhibitions or as commissions, obviously very popular.

The butterfly in the "frame" I really like too,it hangs on one of my walls. It looks a bit strange because it is framed as well,so like a frame in a frame.

I paint a variety of subjects in a variety of mediums, some of my other favourites are old buildings, harbour scenes/fishing boats, sea scapes, fantasy, portrait and figure study.

I have won various awards and prizes through different art clubs and was founder of my own group some years ago and used to teach there.

Noseypotter could do with some advice on how and where he can exhibit. We've tried suggestions, but being as you have already done these things, you may be better to advise him. You should take a look at his drawings. They're amazing. (Sorry Np, if you read this and think I'm being pushy and nosey, but maybe Richard can give you some advice. looloo). Sorry if I've invaded your space Richard, but it would be nice if you could help Np. :o)))
