Hi Doddy,
I used old carpet on my paths to stop the weeds coming up. I put it down then immediately covered it with fresh bark from our local sawmill. I had it in an area where the wind did not blow it about too much. The carpet has been there for several years and would probably need to be replaced but as I do not see weeds coming up past the hessian on which it was woven I do not see the point in re doing it yet. When the bark starts to look like compost because it breaks down I put it on the compost heap and get more fresh bark for the path. Stones will look fine and do the same job as the bark but you will still get weeds growing in the small amounts of soil which gets caught between the stones. They should pull out easily because they cannot go down through the carpet. I give you 10 ot of 10 for recycling. I do not think you will need the weed sheet as well.

A friend of mine uses old carpet at her allotment, when the winter begins she rolls out the carpet and covers over her patch, voila, no weeds come spring !! Mind you weeds have a mind of their own and could grow through if determined ! Good luck.
