a brave new world

hi my name is donna, Iam a complete beginer at gardening. 4 years ago me and my husband james bought our house. The garden was horrendous (I remeber only agreeing to buy the house if he promised to sort out the garden). it was covered in brambles so I never knew where our boundaries where for the 1st year! A large mound in the middle and a trench down the side was the main feature (found out the “mound” was if fact a pile of rubbish that had been covered with earth, hence the trench!) for the past 4 years we have transformed it with landscaping, putting a new lawn down building a raised seating area and a sunken patio and borders. My husband has a narrow fruit trees and roses area which seems to be doing fine and the large shady borders are mine. Over the last 2 years I planted anything and everything in an attempt to cover the bare earth and not surprisingly not much survived apart from sedum, and a large tree fern but now in spring quite a few plants have bravely returned to face another year with me. It’s just a shame I can’t remeber what they are.
I have never been interested in gardening but transforming this garden has unearthed a growing passion for it. I’ve even spent 1 night unable to sleep for worring about my sickly tree fern so I have decided to embrace this new found love and actually do it properly.
So heres to me entering this brave new world, lets see what it brings!

The members here are fantastic for naming plants and the help is amazing.
