dorjac's garden

My garden is a short walk from the town centre. It is 40 feet by 50 feet and it gives me and my husband a great deal of pleasure. Lots of wild birds and animals visit us from time to time. Foxes, the odd squirrel, sparrow hawk, and lots of birds, such as greenfinches, the occasional Jay and recently two mistle thrushes spent the weekend here. There is a sunken lawn which seems to be a natural feature. A mature Hazel and Hawthorn. As we like native trees . We have had 4 lots of fox cubs under the garden shed, even though the garden is well used. They wreck the garden when they play, so when they go I am really pleased.
Thanks all of you who have replied. The avatar is a snowman who sat in my gazebo for about 3 weeks and slowly shrunk to nothing. I moved him inside so the rain kept off him. He left 3 sticks and 2 stones on the seat, as a thank you.He left his track shoes too. It was very kind of him to stay a while. He might have done a bit of gardening while I wasn’t looking.
The foxes were very playful, but the garden is small, and cannot take the trampling and fighting amongst the sprouting plants by 4 growing fox cubs. Also it’s my bluebell time. Fox cubs and bluebells do coincide and look pretty together in a wood. A word of warning. When they leave home they leave some very militant fleas behind. If they get you, it hurts and raises a big itchy bump. A lot of dog flea powder sorted them out. Mr fox also liked bags of nappies (used). He buried them in my shrubbery. A more sensible but sad present for the kiddies was someone’s pet bunny. Urban foxes also like plastic bags and fast food boxes. The odd one comes back for a nostalgic kip under the hawthorn in the sunshine. After all it is his garden!

A warm welcome to GoY, Love the shots, and all the wildlife you have, shame about the fox cub's wreaking havoc on your garden though, but I bet they are a joy to watch.

Loved to read about your garden and see all the photos. Wildlife do tend to take over sometimes depending on the location. We now live on the edge of a little market town to make life easy but all around the views are spectacular. The only Mr. & Mrs. Reynard family here would be a suburban one I guess.
Hope you love G oY as much as I do.

Hello and a late welcome from me too. I liked that you chose your garden as the subject of your first blog. I enjoyed reading about the foxes and appreciated the way you expressed yourself in words. I also liked the choice of subjects, the sharpness and colour of the photos in this blog. I look forward to seeing more.
