First few hours in garden 2011

Caught a little bit of sunshine around lunch-time; did some tidying up,moved some pots around to better see them from the house.
Tidyed the pampas that had suffered badly in the strong winds begining of last week. [Spent last week in Tenerife, nice change though weather very if-y!]
Garden pond quite small but the frogs are in a “frenzy”. Ithink there is a shortage of females as one group had three clinging together, and one poor one on his own.
Tied a few things back, all looking marginally better. Lots of green shoots, cellandine and scilla starting to flower.

When there are not enough females, the males will become aggressive and sometimes will try to mate with fish if you have any.
My Nan has caught frogs doing this, so to stop them killing the fish, she used to go out there and use a knuckle lightly to the head to stun them so that they let go.
Also, a fun fact: Frogs can scream! My Nan heard a horrible high pitch noise and saw a frog screaming when a bird tried to fly off with it. Probably screaming in pain from the talons and apparently it is supposed to put predators off.
