End of the Month again

Time flies when things are busy, and once again I cant believe that it is the end of the month.

Last weekend went by in a blur – beautiful weather, clocks changing (good old BST, Early to bed, early to rise… makes the kids crotchety and things go awry) Holly came down with the ‘chicken spots’ – well she couldnt be left out now could she? Unfortunately for the rest of us she is an awful patient .
I did get my raised veg beds finished and soiled up. My brill OH brought me home a present of a tonne of lovely veg soil (who needs a bunch of cut flowers when you can look forward to growing your own) so Im really excited and now desparate to get Idris puffing away to warm the greenhouse with all the stuff that will go into the beds. I read in ‘gardens monthly’ about small potager planting beds and they suggest growing sucessionally in a greenhouse or ‘nursery’ area and planting into the potager like bedding plants to finish their growth so that the potager nearly always looks attractive. Sounds like a good plan to me!

I cant wait to get the beds planted. ( I even cheated and bought some leeks and peas from the garden centre as mine are tiny!)

I like the idea of getting them half grown before putting in the raised bed. That way it will look fab from day one. Maybe even cut down on predators taking seedlings out of the beds. Let us know how it works!

I am really looking forward to getting stuff planted, Im sowing seeds like mad to try to get everything on the go.
I hadnt thought of the potential for reduced predator attack but it may be an advantage.

I would love to know if anyone else has tried planting this way - it takes sucessional planting to the extreme really. but I have been careful to try to consider veg that dont take too long to mature.
