Christmas Country Garden Fair

I work every alternate weekend, & it seems that everything I want to go to, is on at the weekend I am rostered on duty. This past weekend was no exception, with an annual Christmas Country Garden Fair taking place in the Manawatu district near Palmerston North, where I work. So I decided that I would head off several hours early & attend the fair before going on duty at 2.30pm. I totally adore Christmas & according to my OH I should be known as Mrs Santa around this time. I keep telling him that he should be known as Mr Scrooge or just simply Baa Humbug. (They say opposites attract lol). The fair was well attended & for once the sun was shining, though Sunday was hot & sizzling & would have been the better day to go. There were just 14 stalls in all, so a much smaller Christmas Fair than the Cross Country Kimbolton Christmas Fair held the week before, which has over 100 stalls ….. I was visiting my son & other family in my hometown of Napier that weekend, so unable to attend. But the 14 stalls they did have, were laden with good quality (not to mention expensive) Christmas goodies & I went happily on duty with an adorable Father Christmas who almost has the sprightly look of an elf & stands about 16" tall, plus another bigger more traditional German Father X standing at around 24" tall ….. in my opinion, one can never have too many Father X’s or too many Christmas Angels. In between bouts of drooling over delicious Christmas goodies, I managed to take some pics of the garden which the fair annually takes place in. This garden (& the home attached to it) belong to a couple with a shop in the city of Palmerston North that imports wonderful, good quality bits & pieces for the home ….. my OH always steers me well clear of this particular shop. They have a beautiful rural garden & home & I am already looking forward to their Christmas Fair next year. First 3 photos are of this garden, with the last photo being taken at the Kimbolton Christmas Country Fair when I went to it last year.

All I can say is WOW! Those trees are amazing as well, what a beautiful garden, and you're having warm weather as well. I am sooo jealous!

Don't be too jealous, Rose, as this was the first sunny day in the whole week & the sun didn't have a great deal of warmth in it. Sunday was sizzling hot, but it was raining again by the time we headed off to bed & this week we have only seen the sun for a few hours. We are having the wettest & windiest spring in decades, & most days we are still wearing jackets outdoors & jerseys indoors.

The santas have been popped up into a high bedroom cupboard in their paper bags, out of sight until the right time for them to emerge victoriously & gloriously. I did take a photo of the shorter elf-santa just seconds before my OH came in from the garden & it was a mad scramble to get it away. He would just laugh, I'm sure ..... but not taking any chances LOL. I can still remember my lovely elderly mum smuggling in pretty china teapots for her collection, & hiding them away in a cupboard, & my darling elderly dad discovering them one day & saying, with a look of total disbelief ..."Good God woman! How many teapots do you need!"

There are some very nice santas being sold in the garden centre near here, they sound quite similar,
