Merry Christmas from New Zealand

It’s that time of year again …the silly season, as it is irreverently called. Snow ….carol singers swinging lanterns in the dark …..mince pies …..mulled wine …..roasted chestnuts. Gosh, I miss Christmas in England. It’s all a bit different over this side of the world. As a child I thought Christmas in summer was normal. So many of my friends celebrated it with a BBQ at the beach. Thankfully, my mother being English, we had the full traditional English dinner at home, with the curtains drawn & candles lit. Enough of me reminiscing ……..step out into the sunshine & enjoy Christmas NZ style

My friend’s three year old daughter Poppy, putting the finishing touch to the top of the Xmas tree.

Not a hint of snow anywhere!

Christmas Day on the beach.

Santa taking a break from climbing down sooty chimneys.

Sheep in reindeer clothing.

He told Mrs Santa he’s hard at work ……Yeah Right!

Known as the NZ Christmas Tree ….the Pohutukawa tree flowers throughout December.

Merry christmas to you too Dwyllis.....Loki would love the snow, such fun to watch them.....its interesting too to look at the tracks the wildlife make overnight, foxy following rabbit tracks is a good one as they travel across the frozen pond
The last time it was that bad was two years ago, from being snowed in on 7th december the snow still lay in the garden at christmas....none this year I hope ......it made getting about really difficult

Cannot imagine what a hot & sunny Christmas would be like, nor how you survive the winter without the festive season, but love resulting the humour. Season's greetings from here too.

While you lot are wrapping parcels, I have carefully wrapped my Compost Bins on the allotment this week to create a warmer temperature for the Red Worms that have disappeared. Friend has a bin surrounded by houses and Privet hedge. His worms are still alive and working.
Will look in the charity shop for an old cheap duvet to put under the nylon cover and plastics.
We have to be Olympic athletes to grab large cardboard boxes being emptied in the supermarket, before they are taken out the back to the shredder. I did ask, darent tell them what I wanted them for, so said they were to keep my greenhouse warm. They still wouldnt go out and fetch me a couple. Mingy lot.
Hope this makes you all laugh.
