Pot Bound!

Lady Essex1 isn’t the only one to have been jumping up and down to remove a plant, (in our case), from its original pot.
Years ago we planted an Acer in a large pot bought, I think, from Secrets Garden Centre down in Surrey (?).
The other day my husband noticed that the Acer was beginning to suffer and decided to move it to a larger pot. Simple decision. Not-so-simple task.
We spent a long time pushing, tugging, and finally sawing around the edges inside the pot, and it took three of us to complete the job.
The trouble lay with the shape of the original pot. It looks very nice and, as I love dragons (!), it was my choice. However, in the long term it was not the best choice for a large plant.
Our Acer is now in a larger, black plastic pot and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the Acer will recover.

The hydrangea looks perfectly placed now and very pretty. I hope the acer will be spreading its roots in its new space as I write this!
