My Waterfall

I have just finished repairing my waterfall which was first built about 5 years ago. The original waterfall which consisted of 4 pools looked beautiful but suffered several episodes of water loss, some of them undetectable.
Eventually after about 3 years we stripped it all down. The bottom 2 pools seemed ok so we redirected the water. This was so successful that we decided to leave it like that until this year, while we plucked up the courage to start again.
I would have preferred to put the liner in all in one piece but I didn’t want to disturb the existing waterfall too much so the liner is now in two pieces with plenty of overlap where the old and new meet. I know this is not ideal but with the existing liner still in place, the new one goes half way down the third pool and then gravel placed over it to hold it in place.
Some of the original planting is still in place and has matured nicely, giving the finished project a more established look. I hope you like it.
I have added some photos of the finished project and one of the original.

Thankyou every one. I am really pleased with the finished project and glad that I plucked up the courage to finish it. I don't really think it looks as good as the original but so far it has no leaks and that is a BIG bonus. It has a nice sound too so I'm not in the least disappointed.

Thankyou for your kind comments Scotsgran. The original was a tremendous amount of work and we were very disappointed when we had to rip it out. The recent repairs, on the other hand, were nowhere near as difficult as I had anticipated. We've learnt a lot from our mistakes and would have completed the waterfall sooner had I realised this. It was the kind comments of GoY'ers on my original photo that spurred me on to complete the repairs, so I have a lot to thank GoY for. :-)

you've done really well. It looks natural. The saying try, try, try again has worked for you. Others may have given up; but you didn't and now all your hard work is paying off

Elless, Just seen this blog. My husband is on his hands & knees right this minute doing just what you have done. We have had water loss in our stream for several years now. He keeps thinking thats it fixed, then realizes losing water again. In fact, I might just go out & take a photo of him, Now that would be cruel wouldn't it.lol.

LOL Pam. Yes it would be very cruel. Ours has been running for a couple of weeks now with no water loss. I can hardly believe it and sometimes manage to convince myself that the water level has gone down when it hasn't. The only water we loose now is what the birds throw out when they're bathing. They get so enthusiastic.
