Greenhouse from scratch

I built this greenhouse in a ruined outbuilding. It took rather longer than I imagined (using the ‘little bit day-by-day’ method)

The doorposts and greenhouse frame are left-over beams from our original mill renovation. The doors and windows are ‘throw-outs’ (my wife always moans that I throw nothing away but, sometimes, just sometimes, junk comes in handy).

The summers here are long and hot (+35C) but, as we are in the mountains, the winters are cold (-15C). The greenhouse will be useful, not only for early plants, but for overwintering our less hardy’s. I’ve put in electricity and a thermostat controlled radiator (more junk) so we can keep it above freezing.

The nights are getting chilly already; so it’s log cutting time again. Ah well, but how the heck did I ever have time to fit in a ‘real job’.

Full marks Expats...what a super greenhouse! I could enjoy a nice G & T on a cooler day.....is this what you have in mind, whilst potting up?

Wow thats grand, wish my hubby collected that sort of junk, his usually gets stored for a few years and then gets thrown out anyway......

Troddles ...Actually I'm thinking of putting a sofa bed up there and registering it as a "Harassed Husband" refuge when 'Senior Management' finds new jobs for me.
Lincslass... The old definition of 'junk' is ,"Something you keep for years and throw away days before you need it". BTW, we used to live near Louth (in the early 70's), I'm not sure whether that's 'Lincs' or 'South Humberside' now.
